Airport Runner – Motion-sensor Game Experience
Client: Playmakers
Project Type: Motion Sensor Game | Experiential Installation | Interactive LED Activation
The Brief
Playmakers approached NXT Interactive with the vision to create an immersive motion-controlled gaming experience that would engage audiences through physical interaction, energy, and fun. The concept revolved around an airport-themed runner game, where participants would physically control their avatar’s movement—mirroring their own actions on-screen—as they navigated obstacles and collected bonus items. The game also needed to inform users subtly about travel essentials, presented through an exciting, high-paced experience.
Our Solution
NXT Interactive developed Airport Runner, a motion-sensored 3D running game projected on a large-format landscape LED screen. Players stood in front of the screen, where a motion sensor tracked their movements in real time—allowing them to control their on-screen avatar by physically moving left or right.
Before the game began, users entered their details (name, phone number, and email) and selected a 3D male or female avatar. A short tutorial introduced them to the game mechanics—how to move, collect items, and avoid obstacles—ensuring every participant could jump right into the action.
Once the game started, players had one minute to collect as many bonus items as possible while avoiding obstacles scattered along the airport path. Each bonus or obstacle represented common travel items—symbolizing what to carry or avoid when traveling.
The goal: earn the highest score before the timer or the player’s three lives ran out.
